FERAL & FUNCTIONAL

Feral & Functional: Purposeful Forms from Wild Clay

Feral & Functional is a ceramic exhibit of functional and sculptural artwork made from wild / native clay. The intent of the exhibition is to celebrate the indigenous ceramic mediums that contribute to the identity of clay compositions and to recognize the artists who have returned to a creative process that has been extant for 30 thousand years. Each piece tells a unique story, representing a particular region in the U.S. with its own distinctive geological and ecological history.

Feral & Functional is a juried exhibition with Hamish Jackson as Juror. Jackson has been working with wild clay for several years and has also experimented with making his own glaze from local rocks. He is currently serving as the artist-in-residence at Pleasant Hill Pottery near Eugene, Oregan.
