Specifications:

The application is open to all U.S. artists 18 years and older working in the medium of clay. “The Banquet” asks artists to create functional ceramics for the table. Work must be for sale and priced under $500/piece. This is a juried exhibition with ceramist Mitzi Davis as juror. Pieces will be judged digitally. Accepted artists are also eligible to receive a “Best in Show” award of $250. 1-4 original works may be submitted. “Sets” of items are encouraged, but they must be a grouping of no more than four pieces (example: a pair of teacups and saucers, stacking bowls, a dinner set: 4 dinner plates). Sets must also be priced as such and will not be sold individually. Accepted works that differ significantly from the entry images will be disqualified.

To Apply:

Images should be submitted as jpegs and sized at 300dpi minimum. Images should also be labeled with the name of the piece. The artist should also provide dimensions, clay body, glazing and firing technique, and sale price,* in the submission email. For promotional purposes, artists should also include professional websites and social media accounts. The application fee is $20.00 for one submission, and $5.00 per additional submission.

Entry Restrictions:

All works must be made primarily from clay and 100% functional with food safe glazes.  Selected pieces must be available for the duration of the exhibition.

Notification:

Notification of accepted works will begin October 27, 2025, via email. Artists’ contracts will be included as an attachment.

Award:

All accepted entries will be eligible for the “Best in Show” award. Artists need not be present to win. The winner will receive a monetary reward of $250.

Opening Night and Closing Reception:

Opening night will be November 22, 2025, 5:30-8pm. Closing Reception will be December 20, 2025, 5:30-8pm. Artists are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Shipping and Insurance:

The Artist is responsible for shipping artwork to and from the Gallery at their own expense. Shipped works must be sent in a reusable package. Artist will be responsible for compensating Ology for the cost of return shipping for unsold works. No artwork may be removed from the exhibition until after the conclusion of the show.

*Commission:

In the event of a sale the Artist shall retain 60% of the purchase price with the remaining 40% of the purchase price to be paid to Ology as a commission for the exhibition.

About Juror Mitzi Davis:

Mitzi Davis is a ceramic artist from Florence, South Carolina. She received a M.A. in Arts Administration from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) where she founded “SIP, A Ceramic Cup Show” in 2016. She received her B.F.A. in Art, emphasis in Ceramics, from Shorter University.

Davis' artwork has been exhibited nationally in galleries at Baltimore Clayworks, Barrett Art Center, Bemidji Community Art Center, Lamar Dodd Center, Terra Incognito Studios, University of South Carolina Beaufort and over thirty other venues. She was an UncommonGoods Ceramic Design Challenge Finalist in 2011 and has had gallery representation at New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art and Baltimore Clayworks. Davis has also led numerous workshops in Georgia and Indiana guiding participants in various techniques to explore clay as an artistic medium.

Davis currently resides in Kalamazoo, Michigan with her husband where she teaches ceramics at Kalamazoo Institute of Art.
